Pearls are the symbol of faith, innocence, and purity. It is the first and most popular of the June birthstones. Pearls are delicate. Caring for Pearls is important to understand.
Do you know how to take care of your pearls?
Pearls should never be stored in darkness, as in your dresser drawer. When you are not wearing them, store them alone in a pearl folder, which you can get from your jeweler. Remember when dressing that pearls are the first thing you take off and last thing you put on.
They are very sensitive to sunlit, extreme heat and chemicals such as acids, perfumes, and make up. Lay them flat on breathable fabrics like silk, linen, and chamois. Another way to care for your pearls is to discharge them overnight in sea salt water and recharged them in as oyster shell in the morning.
Pearls come in many colors: black, blue, cream, gray, green, lavender, mauve, yellow, and of course, the best known and common white. It color depends on species of mollusk that produces it and it’s environment. Wear your Pearls and enjoy them often!
It’s said in the Bible, ” The Price of Wisdom is above Pearls”
It was believed by Ancient Greeks to harden the tears of Aphrodite, the Goddess of Beauty and Love. Today the four thousand year old pearls of Persian Queen Achaemenid can still be admired in the Louvre in Paris.
